SolarEdge Strengthens its Position in the Utility PV Market with the Commissioning of a 77MW Ground Mount System in Taiwan

Utility PV system converts 300-year-old salt drying pool into a huge DC-Optimized PV installation powering the equivalent of ~350,000 households

April 21, 2023 – SolarEdge Technologies, Inc. (“SolarEdge”) (NASDAQ: SEDG), a global leader in smart energy technology, announced today that  commissioning has been completed on a 77MW utility ground mount installation on the foothills of Qigu Salt Mountain, Taiwan.

Converting a 560 000 square meter Taiwanese salt drying pool with a 300 year history, into one of the world’s largest DC-Optimized PV installation known to-date, the 77MW utility ground mount installation saves 53,000 tons of carbon emissions each year, the equivalent of powering approximately 350,000 households each year in cities like Oslo or San Francisco. The system is comprised of 22,800 PV modules that are connected to M1600 Power Optimizers and integrated to SolarEdge Three Phase 100KW Inverters with Synergy Technology, with the systems’ performance and operation managed by SolarEdge’s module-level Monitoring System.

SolarEdge’s innovative DC-optimized technology maximizes the energy yield, especially in large-scale sites suffering from module mismatch. The monitoring’s pinpointed alerts enable less site visits, fewer truckrolls, real-time notifications, potentially saving the site approximately 40-50% in Operations and Maintenance costs.
