A PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) Production Technologist focuses on the manufacturing, assembly. Their role involves ensuring the smooth production process, optimizing workflows, and troubleshooting assembly-related issues.
- Production Support.
Oversee the assembly of printed circuit boards, including SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and through-hole processes.
Ensure production equipment, such as pick-and-place machines, soldering stations, and AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), is operating optimally.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to PCB assembly processes.
- Process Optimization.
Analyze production workflows to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
Implement lean manufacturing techniques to optimize throughput and reduce waste.
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to improve manufacturability (DFM).
- Quality Assurance.
Conduct quality checks on PCBAs to ensure compliance with IPC standards and customer requirements.
Utilize tools like X-ray inspection, functional testing, and in-circuit testing to identify defects.
Ensure proper rework and repair of defective assemblies.
- Equipment Maintenance and Upgrades.
Maintain and calibrate production equipment to ensure consistent performance.
Suggest and implement upgrades to assembly line machinery to improve efficiency.
Monitor consumables like solder paste, stencils, and components to minimize downtime.
Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
experience in PCB assembly or a related field.
- Technical Skills:
Knowledge of SMT, reflow soldering, wave soldering, and PCB inspection tools.
Proficiency in software for PCB design/analysis (e.g., Altium, Gerber files).
Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) best practices.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
