SolarEdge has successfully acquired Kokam Limited Company in South Korea, a renowned provider of lithium-ion batteries and integrated energy storage solutions. The newly acquired facility, now known as "Sella 2," is a two gigawatt-hour (GWh) battery cell manufacturing plant located in the Eumseong Innovation City of Chungcheongbuk-Do, South Korea. This strategic move positions SolarEdge to establish its own reliable supply of lithium-ion batteries while also providing the infrastructure necessary for the development of innovative battery cell chemistries and technologies.
